About Dell Technologies
Dell’s story began in 1984 with a belief that everybody should have access to the best technology, anywhere in the world. From hybrid cloud solutions to high-performance computing and ambitious social impact and sustainability initiatives, Dell is instrumental in changing the world’s digital landscape.
Dell’s Edge solutions enable businesses to generate immediate, essential value by empowering them to act on data closer to its creation point. By analysing and acting on data at its source, businesses can rapidly uncover efficiencies, improve experiences and drive innovation.
While Luxid has been supporting Dell with producing on a strategic level and content production for the Edge solutions, Dell felt there was a need to explore a solution for distributing all this content in a more efficient way.
Challenge
Looking to consolidate a range of resources and communicate its Edge offering in an intuitive and accessible way, Dell approached Luxid to create a microsite with a smooth user experience.
As a long-standing creative partner involved in delivering a number of Dell projects, Luxid were a natural choice. Dell also asked Luxid’s 3D team to elevate the site with professional and eye-catching animated elements.
To review the performance of the site and its specific resources, we were also asked to implement an analytics solution that would allow Dell to manage consent.
Solution
We kicked off the project by exploring different options for guiding visitors through Dell’s digital resources. Our prototype used a modern design and several ways for users to find the asset they were looking for, based on filters such as learning paths, industries, or asset types.
For the website build, we chose Contentful, with Vercel as a front-end cloud.
Contentful is ideal for managing many internal and external resources using smart content modelling. This means site authors and editors can consistently apply the same structure and reusable elements across the site, while focusing on the areas that require customization.
As a lightweight and accessible front-end cloud, Vercel makes it easy to host a headless front-end, and deploy new code. This made it a perfect choice for Dell’s microsite.
For analytics, we chose to use server-side tracking – a new way of collecting appropriate user data, without relying on third-party cookies and in-browser tags.
Luxid has a great track record with web operations projects, thanks to our extensive experience with content management systems, and the integrated nature of our teams. Design, development, and web operations teams work hand-in-hand to streamline content management, while keeping the site author experience front-of-mind.
Results
Using the microsite, visitors can filter through ample resources to find the assets they are looking for and learn more about Dell’s Edge offering.
Feedback from the client was very positive, with specific praise for our ability to quickly design and launch the microsite, its intuitive author experience, as well as our innovative approach to server-side tracking.
