Katrina Fournier is a true international citizen. She is half German and was born in in Québec, Canada. Her father was in the military, so growing up she lived in four different European countries - France, Germany, England and Turkey. And now Katrina is enjoying life in Turku, Finland, where she is a Digital Designer at Luxid.
Katrina studied Graphic Design and Fundamentals of Design at LaSalle College Vancouver in Canada. She describes herself as an ‘artsy’ person who loves all things art and design. But her passions extend beyond the arts into the natural world.
“I get inspired by the beauty of nature and things around me,” says Katrina. “As a child, I really wanted to be an archaeologist. I wanted to dig up dinosaur skeletons and mummies. My dad and I would always say once he retired, we would travel the world and excavate worldly treasures.” Katrina would also love to own an animal sanctuary at some point.
Katrina says that her dream holiday destination is the Galápagos Island. “I really want to see the giant tortoises and Iguanas,” she enthuses. “Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to go there. And if I could do anything for a day, I would love to take care of orphan elephants and rhinos in Africa. Or maybe I would spend the day swimming with baby hippos.”
But in the meantime, Katrina is currently enjoying the summertime in Finland after the long winter. And when she is not enjoying the Finnish outdoors, Katrina is enjoying work life at Luxid. “I was drawn to Luxid for its diverse clientele, driven culture and supportive environment,” explains Katrina.
She loves that Luxid is driven by both a great combination of people and technology. ”We get to work with the latest technologies in digital marketing, and we are always on top of the latest trends,” says Katrina.
The Luxid value that Katrina most relates to is ‘Sincere’. “Being kind, honest, respectful and supportive are very important qualities to have as a person,” says Katrina. “But also so important to be surrounded by this in a work environment. Genuine people are just the best!”
Katrina says that she always strives to be honest and kind, and to treat others with the respect that everybody deserves: “In my eyes, being a genuine and nice person doesn’t cost anything so there are no down sides.”
“We have supportive and inclusive teams that are fully committed to making our clients happy,” says Katrina. “We are a big family and treat each other with respect and truly care for one another. We are there to uplift one another.”
With such a focus on respect for other people, it’s not surprising that if Katrina could make one change in the world it would be to bring more kindness. “I think it is easy to judge and get upset with people, we tend to forget that others have their own battle to fight so if we could just be a bit more kind and understanding to our environment, people and animals, it would do the world wonders.”
